Hi friends,
We are still busy tying up loose ends and counting cranes (which we will be sending to Students Rebuild, where they will be getting $2 per crane from the Bezos Foundation!), but as of yet (not counting the crane money and several locations and online partners we’re waiting to hear back from), our total is:
$124,120.38!
Can you believe it?
Thanks to everyone who helped by organizing, designing logos, printing posters and bags, building websites, promoting, baking, donating art, photographing, volunteering at locations, and of course buying sweets!
If you couldn’t make it out on Saturday, you can still contribute to our efforts by donating here. Donate $50 and we’ll send you a tote bag or letterpressed poster (just send us your address to bakesaleforjapan@gmail.com); donate $250 and we’ll send you a totebag and a signed, limited edition Aya Brackett photo.
For the last three weeks, the beautiful Howard Zinn quote above has been our inspiration; last week, a friend shared with us an equally beautiful Japanese proverb that shares the same sentiment: “Even dust amassed will grow into a mountain.”
Look at how much we have accomplished together! Thank you all for your hard work and support!
Best,
Samin

Samin-Thanks so much for the great idea! I’m going to continue fundraising in my area with bake sales and t-shirts.

Phenomenal! Feels so good to have participated. I’ve folded 500 cranes for Students Rebuild and have gotten requests for cookies from my friends. Like Mary Reading, I’m still fundraising, too!

Samin you beyond rock. Setting this example of how a fundraiser for a good cause can take off and grow with passion of many and deliver results — well I’m speechless!
So happy I could partake and enjoy the AMAZING Richard Seibert “center” letterpress prints.
